Made A Bamboo Wind Chime

A few months ago, J picked up a bamboo wind chime kit.

It comes with almost everything you need to make a very simple wind chime: bamboo, pipe cleaners, string, and beads. The only thing you need that isn’t here is a pair of scissors to cut the string. It also came with paints but I didn’t want paint on my bamboo.

The first thing I needed to do was to make sure the bamboo sticks were hollowed out enough using the pipe cleaners.

I put the string in each of the bamboo sticks and placed different beads at the ends of the strings.

I tied a knot after I was done adding beads.

After I finished the first bamboo stick, I tied its string to another bamboo stick that I’d chosen to be the top bar. Then, I repeated that process four more times.

I ran the remainder of the string through the top bamboo bar and tied it up.

One caveat of this product was that the instructions were not that clear and the variety of beads was lame. Just a warning in case you decide to pick this up.
This was a quick project that was useful to me because I’d never done anything like it before, but it makes it so I know how to create much more complicated chimes with raw materials. I could definitely see making something with bigger bamboo or even PVC pipe in a circular configuration. It opens up possibilities. Nice project!
