Swung On The Billy Goat Hill Rope Swing

"It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing."
--Duke Ellington (lyrics by Irving Mills)
This is a little spot in the Glen Park area. I had no idea this park even existed, let alone the rope swing. I heard about it from SF Secrets, so I decided to check it out. I picked Becca up before heading over there. (She was awesome for taking pictures and video.)
We climbed up to the tree at the top of the hill.

It was a very overcast day in San Francisco this morning, but the view from this spot was still pretty nice.

I was curious how sturdy this rope was actually going to be, but I pulled it to see if it was going to be stable.

I backed up a bit and stuck my foot into the two loops.

I went for it.
I ended up giving it one more shot, and it was pretty fun, except when I stepped down to get off the swing, my left foot slipped momentarily. For a second, I thought I was going to be taking another trip on it.

The hill is pretty steep... steeper than my pictures might lead you to believe. When I was at the end of the forward part of the swing, it was a significant distance from the ground. That made it an exhilarating ride.
I had a great time doing this. What a wonderful way to start a Friday morning!
