Eaten A Pastrami Sandwich From Katz's Delicatessen

Katz's Delicatessen has been serving up Old World style sandwiches in Manhattan's Lower East Side since 1888. Their sandwiches are known for being very big and very delicious. Today, J and I headed there for lunch.

Because it was lunch time, it was busy when we got there. The entire place was packed.

Above this particular table, there was a sign that tells you where a particularly memorable scene from
When Harry Met Sally.... If you've seen the movie, you know which scene it is.

As we were in line waiting for to order, a hot pastrami sandwich was steaming on the counter.

We ordered our hot pastrami sandwich and took it to a nearby bench. When we unwrapped it, we discovered layers upon layers of gorgeous pastrami between to modest pieces of rye bread.

They also give you a huge side of pickles with the sandwich. There were two different kinds. One was a slightly seasoned and fresh tasting cucumber and the other was a more traditional pickle.

Katz's pastrami sandwich was delicious. I commented that it was probably the least amount of bread that could be served with that much meat and still hold together as a sandwich (awesome!). The meat was of excellent quality, and it was moist and flavorful. They definitely know what they're doing there, and though it's not an inexpensive sandwich, I would definitely go back.
