Repaired The Handle On A Toilet

“You know an odd feeling? Sitting on the toilet eating a chocolate candy bar.”

Yes, I know. Sometimes the items on my list are less than glamorous, but once in a while, they are necessary. Unfortunately, I don’t get to see the Grand Canyon for the first time every week.
The handle to our toilet broke a little while ago. The plastic part of the lever snapped, and a few days ago, I had temporarily taped the broken piece to the side of the water tank so it wouldn’t sit in the water.

Tonight after I got home from work, I went to Cliff’s Variety on Castro. Surprisingly, they had quite a few choices available there.

I decided to get something made of metal that looked reasonably sturdy, so I wouldn’t have to do this again for a while.

I needed pliers to remove the old handle, but after I got a pair, it was no problem.

Opened the new one and removed the fastening nut.

After attaching the nut onto the handle, I removed the chain from the old broken plastic arm and attached it to the new shiny metal arm.

I removed the old plastic one. That stupid bar just snapped. It sucked!

I gave it a little test, and it was good to go.

It’s very gratifying to be able to do your own home repair, and I am far from a handy person. Now I can flush my toilet, and trust me, that’s a good thing for everyone....
